If there was one word to describe this game, it would be “heat”. For the second game of day two, it's safe to say that this was the one of the best games of the series thus far. Fans from both sides of the aisle went all out when it came to cheering on their favorite team. The match-up started on an explosive start in the first inning with Arizona scoring two runs followed by Mississippi State University scoring their first run of the game. In a fit of vengeance Arizona came back in top of the second inning and scored an additional three runs. Mississippi failed to come back with a run in the bottom of the second inning.
Both teams played each other hard, back-to-back with no runs being scored in the third inning and it wouldn’t be until the bottom of the fourth inning that Mississippi's state would score another run against Arizona. By this time the score was 5-2 with Arizona in the lead. Arizona scored a run at the top of the fifth inning, but Mississippi retaliated back with making runs in both the fifth and sixth inning resulting in Mississippi State University scoring back-to-back runs in the bottom of the fifth, sixth, and seventh innings.
It was the eighth inning that really stood out as Mississippi State University displayed some of the most dynamic pitching since the start of the series at Daikin Park. Although there were runs scored by either team for this inning; MSU fans went absolutely bananas in the stands as they energetically cheered on their team as the pitcher strategically struck out the batter from Arizona. If there was a picture of solidarity in the encyclopedia – there would be a picture of MSU fans right next to the word.
As the game dwindled to the wire in the ninth inning the score was 6-5 with Arizona in the lead, Mississippi fans being the most excited fans since the beginning of the series are currently held on to the edge of their seats in anticipation to see if the Mississippi Bulldogs can at least score a run to tie the game. But unfortunately, Mississippi State University lost this game by a very thin margin. Arizona won this game by the skin of their teeth. Final score Arizona 6, Mississippi State University 5.
