Now is the time to get ready for the third annual 2025 Cactus Jack HBCU Classic which will be happening at Daikin Park, home of the World Champion Houston Astros. If you don’t know anything about the Cactus Jack HBCU Classic college baseball event; it is an event in which the best Historically Black Colleges and University baseball teams go head-to-head on the major league baseball diamond of the Houston Astros. This year's match-up will include the following HBCU baseball teams: Grambling State, Jackson State, Alabama A&M, Prairie View A&M, Southern Jackson State, and Texas Southern University.
Each of these heavy hitting baseball teams will face off against each other in a three-day series of games with three games being played every day for a total of 9 games starting from this Friday to Sunday. The Cactus Jack HBCU Classic is guaranteed to be a baseball showdown like no other. Another thing that will be occurring during the Cactus Jack HBCU Classic is a college fair which is hosted by the Astros Youth Academy that high school students can and should attend free of charge with a purchased ticket. The order of baseball games between the teams is as follows:
Day 1 (Friday Feb. 14)
11am: Grambling State vs. Jackson State University
3pm: Alabama A&M vs. Prairie View A&M
7pm: Texas Southern University vs. Southern University
Day 2 (Saturday Feb. 15)
11am: Alabama A&M vs. Jackson State University
3pm: Southern University vs. Grambling state
7pm: Prairie View A&M vs. Texas Southern university
Day 3 (Sunday Feb.16)
11am: Grambling State vs. Alabama A&M
3pm: Jackson State University vs. Texas Southern University
7pm: Prairie View A&M vs. Southern University
There are also more HBCU festivities occurring such as the Fraternity/Sorority “Divine 9/HBCU Alumni Happy Hour” which will take place on Friday, February 14th. Tickets for this event are $50.00 and will be taking place at the “Gallagher Club” located within Daikin Park at 5pm. The purchase of this ticket will include food and access to all 9 baseball games. Also, there will be a Gospel Breakfast which will be happening on Sunday, February 16th and that event is $25.00. The Gospel Breakfast will be held at the “Phillips 66 Diamond Club” located within the stadium from 9am to 10:30am. This event will feature Gospel Comedian Marcus D.
