A Government Shutdown Is Needed

Written by Michael Thervil

Let the mainstream news tell it; many people within Washington are fighting for the U.S. Government not to shut down. Citing concerns about the military not getting paid, government assistance programs not being operational, and the general financial havoc and blowback that is likely to occur if a shutdown were to happen. However, we at VEDA Magazine see things a little differently. A government shutdown is just what America needs, and the reason for this is because America is broke.

We are saying this because since 1971 until now, America has been living and thriving off artificial juiced markets and an artificial fiat-based money supply. In short, when America runs into financial problems, it simply prints more money seemingly out of thin air. But what people are not understanding is that even though that’s considered to be nothing more than a band-aid for a short-term financial fix, it does nothing to stop the hemorrhaging effect of what a fiat-based currency does to any economy in the long term. And speaking of financial fixes, the money junkies in Washington D.C. and all over the country can’t seem to get enough of what is quintessentially fake money. And we can say this because the currency that America utilizes is really backed by nothing – except for a promise.

Now sure there are people out there that are going to say that the American dollar is backed by petroleum (Saudi Oil Agreement) – but the question is: “Is it really?”. Given the fact that America imports more oil that it creates and doesn’t hold the world’s largest oil reserves - the Saudis do. It’s said in life you can’t have it both ways. This saying is also true in this sense, because you can’t simply print money out of thin air without having to deal with things such as inflation, the over reliance on credit for wasteful governmental aid on the losing wars of countries like Ukraine and funding black budget programs which further lead to extraordinary credit deficits. Remember America's credit rating just got downgraded a few months ago.

When it comes to America being afraid of people in the military not showing up for duty because they’re not getting, that should be a clear sign that America doesn’t have the patriot soldiers that it says it has. Instead, it has employees. Remember America has a volunteer army – not a conscription-based military. So those people who enlisted in the military know what they were signing up for – thus, they should be strong enough to take the good with the bad. After all, they are “patriots” right? When it comes to governmental assistance programs such as WIC, Food Stamps (SNAP/EBT), and Section 8 housing vouchers the question on many people’s minds is why is the U.S. Government funding programs that historically do more socio-economic damage than good. This is especially true when America is dealing with infrastructure issues.

Why should the government fund failing departments such as the Department of Education? This governmental entity has been failing since its conception and has not produced anything near what it was created for, or anything close to its mission statement since its conception in 1979. Another issue America is facing is the amount of money Congress, Committeemen, House of Representatives, U.S. Senate, and the Department of Justice are raking in. It’s the taxpayers, lobbyists and their investments that are paying them to produce failing policies that typically don’t benefit the average man on the street, but instead benefits the corporations and interests of their donors. We at VEDA Magazine are saying all this to say that America doesn’t have the money to continue to keep paying for programs and departments that simply don’t work and serve its people as they were created to do.

On the flipside, the argument could be made that if it was not for these governmental programs, subsidies, and departments the country would be in chaos. There would be soup kitchens all over the place, women and children would suffer, crime would be rampant, and hospitals would be overrun. On the other end of that argument, it can be said that the American public is weak. Surely the American public who tend to boast to the world about being “exceptional” should be able to overcome such socio-economic challenges. Maybe America should study a page from Russia's handbook on how to be self-reliant. Afterall, it seems as if all the major players in the world followed America's lead and sanctioned Russia and as it turns out; Russia is still striving and, in some respects, doing better than ever before.

Again, maybe a government shutdown needs to happen; maybe America needs what is called a “Great Reset”. A chance to “get its house in order”. A bandage of any kind can only hold for so long.
