Well in the newest A24 film entitled “Death of A Unicorn”, unicorns have become just that - sort of. Although unicorns have always been seen as mythical and pure creatures that are associated with hope and magic; Death of A Unicorn takes the time out to explore the possible dark side of these mythological creatures.
Historically and religiously, in some Catholic dominated countries, not only where unicorns were a sign of death, but their artful depictions were banned by Molanus after the Council of Trent in 1563. Without giving away any plots of the film we can most certainly say that whether you’re a little girl or not, you will absolutely find Death of A Unicorn entertaining and full of laughs – especially during the “unicorn horn dust drug scenes” (which are absolutely hilarious). It seems like the film Death of a Unicorn has something for everyone in the film.
Death of A Unicorn directed by Alex Scharman who is known for his work as a Director on “Resurrection” (2022), “House of Spoils”, “Selah and The Spades” and “Blow The Man Down” (2019) amongst other films brings us Death of A Unicorn which is a film filled with “social satire, comedy, and horror”. This film is centered upon a single dad (Paul Rudd) and his daughter (Jenna Ortega) and the family-owned pharmaceutical corporation who accidentally discovers the healing properties of a dead unicorn, once harvested leads to the revengeful and goreish deaths of several characters within the film, sounds like a simple plot and it is. Think of Death of A Unicorn as the film “Scream meets unicorn narcotics and corporate greed”.
Death of A Unicorn features stars such as Will Pouler as “Shepherd Léopold”, Téa Leoni as the mother “Belinda Leopold”, and Richard Grant as “Odell Leopold”. Other actors and actresses featured in this film were Anthony Carrigan as “Giff”, Sunita Mani as “Dr. Bhatia”, Jessica Hynes as “Shaw”, Nick Wittman, Stave Park, Stephen Park, and Kathryn Erbe.
