If we had to describe Amazon Prime's newest series “On Call” revolving around the lives of police officers those words would be: “thunder and lighting”. According to the official press release put out by Amazon Prime On Call is an:
“adrenalized procedural that puts us inside the squad car and on the streets with Long Beach Police. Through training officer Traci Harmon, and rookie Alex Diaz the series examines how the complexities of the job affects the human condition. Harmon will be enlightened by a kid from the streets, while Diaz will learn that policing isn’t black and white - it requires shades of grey.”
But it's more than that. For many people that may not be familiar with police work, it gives them an inside look at not only what police officers have to go through on a daily basis, but it also provides views with an inside look at both how policing has changed and the policies that invoke friction between older and newer police officers. More often than not, police officers struggle with having to balance their personal lives, the streets they work, and the administration that they fall under, and On Call does a great job of bringing that dynamic to viewers.
From the taking of domestic calls which are some of the most dangerous and worst calls police offices can take, to taking calls dealing with homicide, to battling gang violence that has been imported into America from other countries like from South America which brings a devastating level of violence that has never been seen, to officers being killed in the line of duty there's a lot at stake and On Call delivers it all to viewers within this series.
Another thing that we really enjoyed about On Call is that we can tell that the actors and actresses have undergone great training in order to play the roles of offices on screen. From how actual police officers drive, to how they respond to calls, how they extract their firearms, down to how police officers tend to deploy sarcasm in order to mask their emotions, the trainers, police advisors, Producers, and Directors did a great job of articulating this on screen.
Speaking of Directors and Producers, On Call has some of the most robust Producers that money can buy. Such Directors as Dick Wolf are known for his work on television shows such as FBI, Chicago P.D., Law and Order, Chicago Med, and New York Undercover. Another Producer worthy of mention that worked on this series is Tim Walsh, who is known for his work on Chicago P.D. and Cult. Both of these Producers strike nothing short of delight to the minds and imaginations of viewers who are fans of their work.
Other Producers and Directors that worked diligently on On Call were Elliot Wolf, Eriq La Salle, Arthur W. Forney, Peter Jankowski, Matthew Segal, Taye Shuayb, Rebecca McGill, Anastasia Puglisi, Ryan Janata, Bryan Gracia, Troy Takaki, Laura A. Garcia, Troian Bellisario, Brandon Larracuente, Monica Raymund, Robert Bailey Jr., Lori Loughlin, Eriq La Salle, Mac Brandt, and Rich Ceraulo Ko. Feel free to click on each of their names to see what film credits appear as we are sure that you’ll have an “ah-ha” moment when you do.
