I told my friend Olaf Scholz: ‘I will not sell weapons to kill a Russian, to kill anyone. So, I want to apologize, but Brazil will not sell the weapons you need because I want peace, and if I want peace, I cannot fuel the war. We want peace between Russia and Ukraine. Now, this is only possible if both are at the negotiating table."

These were the words of Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. With that being said, if there was a Masterclass on “standing on business” then there is no better class to take than the class offered by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. When approached by Volodymyr Zelenskyy regarding the exportation of Brazilian weapons to Ukraine,  Volodymyr Zelenskyy was met with a strong denial. For Volodymyr Zelenskyy, this is nothing but something to get used to as major world powers are turning their backs on Ukraine as it’s seen as the one who provoked Russia to take decisive action.

Many geopolitical pundits around the world are in support of Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva not only because he demonstrated the courage to tell Volodymyr Zelenskyy no when it comes to sending weapons to Ukraine, but because of his stance on the promotion of peace when it comes to this issue. The question is will Volodymyr Zelenskyy retaliate in some form or not in the future. Currently, it's unknown if Volodymyr Zelenskyy will or not. But the one thing that is known is that our prediction at VEDA Communications was correct – Ukraine will and now has lost its war of provocation against Russia. Ukraine is very lucky that Russia didn’t bomb the country to glass considering the advanced types of weaponry that it has in its arsenal.

Since the beginning of the Ukraine-Russia conflict that turned into a full-blown hot war, Brazil has always advocated for peace from both sides. President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva closed off his meeting with Volodymyr Zelenskyy by stating:

“It is important for Brazil to say that we want peace, that we don’t want war, those who want to talk to us now could have talked to us before the war had started.”
