Last week North Korea experienced rains on July 27th that were so heavy, a national disaster was called. These record-breaking rains cause severe flooding all across the country of North Korea. But many people who are observing the flooding of rainwater across North Korea are not solely blaming the record-breaking rain as to why North Korea is currently experiencing such a catastrophe. The observers of this flood are coupling the record-breaking rain with North Korea having poor infrastructure and poor diplomatic relations with the rest of the world.

But according to the North Korean Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un, the reason why his country is having a hard time developing diplomatic relations with the rest of the world is because of U.S. Sanctions. The question that people in the know are asking is: “How does anyone know North Korea has poor infrastructure if no one is allowed to enter, less known be allowed to survey the infrastructure of North Korea in a fashion to exert such claims?”. Beyond that, there are still 1,000’s if not millions of people that are still being adversely impacted by the vast flooding in several provinces across North Korea and those people are going to need a lot of help.

During a conversation I had with someone that knows more about North Korea than we do, he raised the following question: “What is the international community going to do to help the people of North Korea?”. That’s a fair question, given the fact that the international community seems to be filled with both people and countries that seem to always be eager to help a nation in need. Its already understood that countries like China and Russia will come to the aid of North Korea, but what’s ironic is that both the people and government of South Korea are attempting to send aid to North Korea as well. It should be known that in the past North Korea has been hesitant to accept outside help and aid from countries that are affiliated with the Collective West when it came to assisting with the internal matters of North Korea.

Could it be that other countries other than Russia and China have a “strings attached” concept attached when it comes to aiding North Korea in any capacity; thus, promoting North Korea to turn down their seemingly open hand? Who really knows? Diplomacy between North Korea and the Collective West is just about non-existent ever since 2020. With the recent flooding, the issue of North Korea's food supply has not only been questioned, but out right threatened. It was reported that because of the recent flooding, a lot of farmlands in North Korea has been submerged underwater along with 4,000 homes. It’s also been estimated that over 1,500 North Koreans have died.
