China Leading In Use Of AI In The Classrooms

Written by Michael Thervil

It is amazing to see how Artificial Intelligence is being used in classrooms across China. The ability to not only foster a great learning environment but having the ability for teachers to deliver lessons more efficiently and effectively to students has long been sought across the world. As of 2019 before the COVID-19 Pandemic up until now China has not only accomplished that but they have raised the bar when it comes to setting standards in education. With the introduction of Artificial Intelligence in their classrooms, they have been able to further boost their student academic scores and overall learning experience and set their students up to be the future leaders on the world stage.

The link in this story is one that highlights that fact and should most definitely give teachers and school board administrators a great insight into how Artificial Intelligence can be used in the classroom here in America. Given the fact that America sits at the bottom on the world stage when compared against other industrialized nations in terms of education. The use of AI in the learning process should really aid the students and teachers alike in the United States with the ability to “climb a little higher on the educational ladder” so to speak in terms of international competitiveness in the realm of education.

With the implementation of Artificial Intelligence in Chinese classrooms, not all Chinese students were not happy with it. We get it, everything is not for everyone – but at the same time we also understand that all students are not good students – no matter what their age is. For some Chinese students, the implementation of Artificial Intelligence in their classrooms was nothing more than a simple learning curve that they had to overcome in the beginning. But they put their trust in the process and they seemed to have adapted not only academically but socially to the use of Artificial Intelligence in their learning process.

When it comes to using Artificial Intelligence in the learning process in the American educational system, there appears to be a lot of red tape that stifles the development and it’s use in American schools. The first hurdle that comes to mind is HIPPA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act). Another hurdle would be that the AI system will utilize facial recognition. Then after that hurdle comes another one; the fact that parents and some students will make the argument of how the use of AI will become socially abrasive and thus violate privacy laws. Let’s not forget about the never-ending argument of racial profiling and socio-economic stratification that will undoubtedly come into play.

But the people of China don’t appear to have these social objections and issues, at least in terms of when it comes to educating their children in a more effective and efficient way. This is something to think about. Take the time out to view the video presented by the Wall Street Journal and draw your own conclusions. Should Artificial Intelligence like what’s shown above be utilized in American classrooms?
