Here at Veda magazine, we get it, no matter who you are, a businessman, police officer, firefighter or in this case Congresswoman, people will be people. With that being said, Congresswoman Sheila Jackson- Lee is no different. What we mean by this is that she is human and thus prone to error. Typically, when it comes to political candidates, the American people tend to choose among the most perceived polished people from their society. In short, images become everything especially when it comes to politics. In a recent leaked audio recording from a Sheila Jackson- Lee staffer, it can be said that it’s shocking to hear Congresswoman Sheila Jackson- Lee use vulgar language in the manner that she did towards anyone let alone one of her staffers.
Currently Sheila Jackson- Lee is running for the opportunity to be the next mayor of Houston Texas, however, despite our prediction that she will lose to front runner John Whitmire this recent leaked audio recording seems to add more credibility to our prediction. And make no mistake about it, she will lose the race for mayor of Houston. We get it, running for any kind of political office can be very stressful, but it can be said that Sheila Jackson- Lee should have known better than to use such language towards anyone as she has been in the public eye pretty much her entire adult life due to her presence in Washington D.C. as a member of the house of representatives.
Moreover, this leaked audio recording says something about her when you really listen to it and what it says is that she may not be who she says she is. We are saying this because it can be said with a high degree of certainty that this may not the first time Shelia-Jackson-Lee, acted aggressively towards her Campaign Staff. For people to record anyone in this manner, typically its anticipated that the person being recorded would act in a manner that would "suggest" the anticipated outcome.
Everyone knows that all political candidates (and people in general) present themselves in a way that they want to see. But in the case of political candidates, the term Sociologists would use “Impression Management” is one of the most important tools that they can have in their toolbox. The “smoke screen” of Impression Management because it’s built on the manipulation of obtaining someone trust that is so fragile, that the slightest bump of any kind causes a fracture in the trust factor that the manipulator has gained from their subject.
In the case of Sheila Jackson- Lee, we wonder if this fracture will heal, or will it cause further injury down the line when it comes to not only her desire to become Houston’s next mayor, but will it adversely affect her credibility in the house of representatives? People in the shoes of Sheila Jackson-Lee should know and understand that because of their position in society, the camera will always be on them. Our prediction is that when it comes to how Congresswoman Sheila Jackson- Lee will be seen; it will depend on who’s doing the observing.
