DAY 2: Cactus Jack Foundation HBCU Classic

Written by Michael Thervil

As the Cactus Jack Foundation HBCU Classic continues on its second day, fans and lovers of baseball are continuing to gather in Minute Maid Park, home of the World Champion Astros. The first teams to go head-to-head were Jackson State University vs. Alcorn State University (11:05am) with the Jackson State University winning the first game (11-7) of the second day of this annual HBCU baseball classic, there’s still plenty of excitement left in the stadium for them to have another chance of winning a game during the Cactus Jack Foundation HBCU Classic.

The second game starting this afternoon began at 3:05pm with Grambling State University vs. Southern University. Even though the weather has gotten cooler, the fans are doing a good job at countering that by cheering on their favorite teams to bring the heat on the baseball diamond. The second game between Grambling State University vs. Southern University resulted in Grambling State University winning 10-0.

The last game of the evening consisted of Texas Southern University swinging for dominance over Prairie View University A&M which started at 7:05pm. This game ended with Prairie View University A&M winning against Texas Southern University with a 5-3 win. Keep in mind that the Cactus Jack Foundation HBCU Classic is a three-day event that officially started on Friday, February 16th; and it will end tomorrow, Sunday February 18th. If you haven't had the opportunity to head out to minute park to observe the Cactus Jack Foundation HBCU Classic, tomorrow will be our last day to do so.
