Like always it’s a pleasure to provide press coverage for the fourth day of the Fayez Sarofim & Co. ATP 250 U.S. Men's Clay Court Championship here in Houston at the River Oaks Country Club. Looking at the list of players contending for the chance to prove to the world that they are the king of tennis, the list is getting smaller and smaller. Today there are only six matches and of the six matches, only two of them are doubles. As competition between the players is growing, so are the attendees of this tournament. Just as players are coming to compete from around the world, so are the attendees.
The first match of the day was a that started with Austin Krajicek and Rajeev Ram (USA) vs Federico Agustin Gomez and Santiago Gonzalez (Argentina). This was a good match played between the players that involved Austin Krajicek and Rajeev ram obtaining 33/52 service points won, 12/48 (25%) return points won, and a sum total of points won 45/100 (45%). Their opponents Federico Agustin Gomez and Santiago Gonzalez scored 36/48 (75%), with 19/52 (37%) return points won, with 55/100 (55%) total points won. This match ended with the Americans being defeated and the Argentina’s advancing to the next round.
The second match of the day was a singles match featuring Mackenzie McDonald (USA) vs Brandon Nakashima (USA). For the specters of this match it was an “even tempered match” in which both players played their best game. But best game or not, there could only be one winner; and the winner of this match was Brandon Nakashima. Brandon Nakashima dominated in every category statistically over Mackenzie McDonald without exception.

Where Mackenzie McDonald Donald scored 3/5 (60%) net points won, 14 winners, and 17 unforced errors; Brandon Nakashima scored 4/5 (80%) when it came to net points won, 24 winners, and 20 unforced errors. Mackenzie McDonald scored 35/61 (57%), 9/49 (18%) when it came to return service points won, and 44/110 (40%) for the sum total points won. Brandon Nakashima in contrast, had 40/49 (82%) in terms of service points won, 26/61 (43%) in return points won, and 66/110 (60%) when it came to total points won.
In a bone crushing victory against Kei Nishikori, Christopher Eubanks advances to the next round. With Christopher Eubanks leading in all categories, many spectators are asking can he do it again in his next match? Our position here at VEDA Communications is that he has the ability to. In fact, many spectators believe that Christopher Eubanks will win the tournament. Looking at the numbers, Kei Nishikori stood 0/1 (0%) when it came to net points won, with 6 winners, and 9/20 (45%) in terms of unforced errors. Kei Nishikori also scored 9/20 (45%) for service points won, 6/22 (27%) for return points won, and 15/42 (36%) when it came to total points won.
With these numbers of spectators are wondering how Kei Nishikori got this far in the tournament. One spectator of the match stated that Kei Nishikori's performance today is worse than his home country of Japan after today's Trump's Reciprocal Tariffs took effect. The winner of the match, Christopher Eubanks scored 2/2 (100%) when it came to net points won, 9 winners, and 8 unforced errors. Christopher Eubanks also scored 16/22 (73%) service points won, 11/20 (55%) for return points won, and 27/42 (64%) in total points won.
For the last match of the night, it would be Alex Michelsen (USA) vs. Adrian Mannarino (France). Both players played strong throughout the entirety of the match. Within this match there was a lot of sliding back and forth on the court between the two players which greatly added to both the difficulty and the dynamics of many of the plays from each player. Glancing over the stats, it's easy to see that each player appears to have met their match. Adrian Mannarino scored 8/12 (67%) for net points won, 24 winners, and 44 unforced errors. Adrian Mannarino also scored 53/99 (54%) in service points won, 38/96 (40%) for return points won, and 91/194 (47%) for total points won.
The winner of the match, Alex Alex Michelsen, scored 8/13 (62%) in net points won, 21 winners, and 45 unforced errors. Alex Alex Michelsen led in service points with 57/95 (60%), 46/99 (46%) in return points won, and 103/194 (53%) in total points won. This concludes day 4 of the Fayez Sarofim & Co. ATP 250 U.S. Men's Clay Court Championship.
