Marburg Virus
Ever since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic which over time turned into an endemic, scientist of all sorts, in conjunction with governments from every country and even the likes of billionaires such as Bill Gates have been looking for any signs of the next disease that will most likely result in another pandemic. You might be asking yourself why? Well, to tell you the truth, by going out and aggressively searching for the next viral, parasitic, bacterial, mycotic or any other diseases of the unconventional kinds (prions). These zoonotic diseases are the ones that are suspected of bringing about the next worldwide health pandemic. We can put ourselves in the position to better combat it before it’s too late. And when we say “too late” – we’re simply talking about hitting the disease before it hits us.
Small Pox
The logic of striking the first blow, sounds like the right course of action – however, there are literally 1.67 million barriers we must overcome before we can successfully isolate that 1 or group of diseases that may be what scientists are calling “Disease X”. You read it right - there are 1.67 million diseases that are yet to even be discovered before we even start the filtering process.
As of right now the leading scientist of the world highly suspect that the cause of the next global pandemic will be a zoonotic disease – meaning that the disease will be able to transition from animals to humans. As a point of reference, 60% of human pathogens are zoonotic in origin. HIV/AIDS and Ebola are two zoonotic diseases that should come to mind. One possible scenario that could hit the American population the hardest is, if their beloved pets (dogs and cats) become the main source of carriers for the next global pandemic.

Possible earth occurrences that could accelerate the spread of the next pandemic are global warming. Currently it is highly suspected by Climatologists that the next 3-5 years can and most likely will be the hottest the earth has ever been. What comes to our minds is the melting of the arctic regions of the earth as no one really knows what microorganisms that lay beneath the arctic ice. When it’s all said and done, the one thing that COVID-19 taught us was that this is a fight that involves every human being on the face of the earth. Diseases, especially diseases of epic proportions have no idea what social stratification is. What this means is that diseases, especially extreme diseases, don’t care about socio-economic status, geographic location, or religion.

Not only is this something to think about, but extreme zoonotic diseases are worth fighting against when it comes to the survival of humanity – because if we don’t pick a fight with what may be known as Disease X and win before it becomes a formidable enemy; there may not be much of a humanity to save when it brings the fight to us.
