Maybe not the government of the UK just yet, but it appears that the citizens of the UK are looking to cut ties with the United States. To be more specific it is the younger generation of UK citizens that are looking to cut ties with the United States. As older UK residents still see the United States as both a guiding light and a path forward geopolitically; the youth of today in the UK do not. It was reported by Germany-based foundation Bertelsmann Stiftung that 63% of UK residents want the UK to “go its own way”. The reasons for this are simple: they are tired of having to bow down and be dragged into American conflicts.
Even more than that, many residents of the UK are tired of not only the implementation of the endless number of failed sanctions and monetary fluctuations, being financially affected by the decisions that the United States tends to make whenever it gets upset at another country such as when Russia doesn’t toe the geopolitical line seems to be throwing the youth of the UK over the edge. Currently, right now, inflation is running wild and the diminished international trade and commerce have taken it’s toll on the people of the UK. Many UK residents are getting their gas cut off because of the United States blowing up the NORD stream pipeline via proxy in conjunction with the United States funding Ukraine’s war against Russia. These acts have caused gas prices to spike to the point that people can barely afford to pay their gas bill as winter is approaching in the UK.
It was concluded by Isabell Hoffmann and Catherine De Vries that : "the old America is not coming back”. The reason why this conclusion was drawn was because they perceived that the United States has become “hyper-transactional, sometimes antagonistic, and self-centered”. Isabell Hoffmann and Catherine De Vries also went on to say that: “eight years of American hyper-polarization at home and mixed messaging abroad have taken their toll”.
It seems as if the UK and its member countries have been reduced to a small shadow of what they once were. What we mean by this is that the UK member countries used to be grand through the eyes of the world. Now they seem to be sock puppets made in the likeness of “yes men” for the United States anytime the U.S. decides to stick it’s hands up their ass. It’s a hard conclusion to follow but facts are just that – facts. The question of the day is: When will the UK government say enough is enough?
