It’s been almost 25 years since "Gladiator" hit the Box-office, and now the franchise will be back in theaters on November 22, 2024, just in time for the holidays. Directed by Ridley Scott Gladiator 2 stars Paul Mescal (Lucius), Denzel Washington (Macinus), Pedro Pascal (Marcus Acacias), Joseph Quinn (Emperor Geta), Fred Hechinger (Emperor Caracalla), Connie Nielsen (Lucilla), Djimon Hounsou (Juba), and Derek Jacobi (Senator Gracchus). For those of you that may not be unfamiliar with the Gladiator franchise, we urge you to watch the first installment of the film before you flock to the theater.
Again, it’s been almost 25 years since the first theatrical release of "Gladiator", so that means a whole generation of people haven’t had the chance to bear witness to the greatness of the first film. According to the Press Release for Gladiator 2:
“From legendary director Ridley Scott, gladiator 2 continues the epic saga of power, intrigue, and vengeance set in ancient Rome. Years after witnessing the death of the revered hero maximum at the hands of his uncle, Lucius (Paul mescal) is forced to enter the Colosseum after his home is conquered by the tyrannical Emperors who now lead Rome with an iron fist. With rage in his heart and the future of the empire at stake, Lucius must look to his past to find strength and honor to return the glory of Rome to its people.”
Looking at the trailer released to the public, Gladiator 2 features more than a great plot and storyline. it’s a beautifully shot film that encompasses the embodiment of what it means to be a human being, that has been stripped of their sense of humanity with no civilized way to relieve oneself of the pain associated with being a part of the underclass other than, primal rage, grit, perseverance, and the taste of revenge.
Gladiator 2 is a must-see film because you’re sure to be entertained on November 22nd, 2024, when Gladiator 2 is released in both theaters and on IMAX nationwide. This is a Paramount Pictures film and is not rated as of yet.
