Taking a break from the world of geopolitics and fashion means taking the time out to eat at a great restaurant. While traveling in Houston Texas, we had the opportunity to haphazardly step into one best Pakistani restaurant in the city and we’re just not saying that just because we’re writing this article. Mezban Restaurant & Caterers which is located on 6655 Harwin Drive Houston Texas 77036 is a buffet that serves some of the best foods from Pakistani cuisine. From basmati rice to delicious curry dishes, to wraps and rolls, to vegetarian dishes. And let’s not forget their BBQ and Kebab and tandoori chicken dishes. The Mezban Restaurant & Caterers has it all.
While we didn’t get the opportunity to try their curry goat korma/karahi dish we did get the opportunity to taste their wonderful chicken karahi which was absolutely excellent. Another menu item that we enjoyed was their beef (stewed beef). Now this seemingly stewed beef was so tender, juicy and delicious that we had to come back for seconds. It went absolutely well with the basmati rice and gravy – and who doesn’t love gravy? Of course, they had naan (flat bread) that is always great to pair with any menu item that has a gravy or sauce. And the light desserts (especially the creamy mango-based dessert) that the Mezban Restaurant & Caterers had on stand-by were to die for. We really enjoyed that.
In terms of the simple things that people tend not to pay attention to but are worth mentioning is their cucumber water. It's not like the literally watered down cucumber water that you find in hotels around town. The cucumber water that the Mezban Restaurant & Caterers has more of a taste like “lemonade” but with cucumbers than anything. Take our advice, you have to try it with your meal. Speaking of drinks, they have a non-alcoholic drink called “Mango Lassi”, that’s really good; that consists of three ingredients: yogurt, sugar, and mango – you have to try this extremely satisfying drink because it will knock your socks off as it did ours.
Another thing that must be said is that the staff at the restaurant are so gracious in the fact that they make you feel welcomed, relaxed, and ready to eat – even if you, like us, have never tasted or experienced their menu items. we also have to say a special thank you to both the gracious Owner Sohail and our wonderful and informative hostess Yonery for taking the time out to not only speak to us about their restaurant and their history but for actually sitting down with us and talking to us about how to pair the food items, what to expect taste wise from the food, and most of all how to pronounce the food items even though we verbally struggled to pronounce the names of the food on their menu. But to tell the truth, it doesn’t matter if we can properly pronounce the food items at Mezban Restaurant & Caterers or not, because the food is extremely delicious and so fulfilling that you too will be mesmerized by it.
The Mezban Restaurant & Caterers has been in operation for over 20 years and is open Monday through Sunday from 11am to 9:45pm. It should also be known that the Mezban Restaurant & Caterers serves a special menu on Saturdays at 5pm – which we will be there this Saturday (July 27th, 2024). Additionally, they also provide catering servers as well. There is no pork on the menu, which is a great thing so you can eat it to your heart’s delight. The Mezban Restaurant & Caterers is located at 6655 Harwin Drive Houston Texas 77036. Make sure to take the time out to dine at this restaurant beware it is addictive (in a very good way).
