Yesterday’s matchup between the Houston Dash vs Mexico’s C.F. Pachuca was a match that resulted in the Houston Dash winning 2-0. This game was literally a hot one in which there were two hydration breaks that occurred during the match to prevent any of the players from suffering from any heat related injuries. With the Houston Dash executing 21 shots to the C.F. Pachuca 12 resulting in the Houston Dash having 9 shots on target to C.F. Pachuca’s 6.

As always, the Houston Dash tends to possess the ball more than any of the teams they play against, during this matchup the Dash had the ball in their possession 58% of the time, while the C.F. Pachuca possessed the ball at a rate of 42%. The Houston Dash was able to execute 448 passes to the Pachuca FC’s 331 passes. The ball passing rate of the Houston Dash was 84% to C.F. Pachuca 69%. Where the C.F. Pachuca unfortunately led stat wise was when it came to acquiring fouls. Now depending on who’s looking at this, it may not necessarily be an absolute negative.

The reason why we can say this is because if a team is racking out fouls, it could either mean that the team is aggressive in their approach to playing a game or they may not be trained enough to compete on a professional level. But we believe that the C.F. Pachuca could have be trained to play more aggressively. Again, this may not necessarily be a bad thing as it tends to force the other team to play in a way that they may not necessarily play on average.

Aggressive or not, there were no red cards issued but there were yellow cards earned by both teams with the Houston Dash receiving one to the C.F. Pachuca’s 2. The C.F. Pachuca were penalized for going offside 3 times to the Houston Dash’s 2. Lastly, the Houston Dash had 9 corners to the C.F. Pachuca’s 2. The next face off for the Houston Dash will be against the Orlando Pride on August 23, 2024, at the Shell Energy Stadium in Houston Texas with kick off starting at 7:00am.
