I became aware of Boot Campaign after I went on a discovery mission to Israel.  One of the program managers gave me a referral after I returned.  Boot Campaign is an organization founded by Texas Women to support wounded warriors.  It has a Health and Wellness program, built on the principles of providing holistic care and working to identify the root cause of hidden wounds of war, delivers personalized treatment plans to veterans and their families. Boot Campaign has a simplistic approach to providing care to treat diverse health challenges connected to Posttraumatic Stress and/or Traumatic Brain Injury, as well as addressing trauma-based insomnia, chronic pain, substance abuse, nutrition and fitness. Boot Campaign serves veterans of any era and any branch and they are committed to making sure you get the help you deserve.

Warriors Heart is a leading organization that is committed to providing care and support for military personnel and first responders dealing with addiction and PTSD. Recently, I had the privilege of spending six weeks at Warriors Heart through the Boot Campaign, and it was a life-changing experience.

From the moment I arrived on January 3, 2023, I was warmly welcomed by the staff and fellow warriors. The atmosphere was calming and supportive, and I immediately felt a sense of belonging. The program was well-structured and comprehensive, covering all aspects of addiction and PTSD treatment, including therapy, education, and self-care practices.

The daily schedule was rigorous, especially at my age (59), but necessary. We started each day with meditation, followed by group therapy sessions, and then individual therapy sessions. The therapists were highly trained and experienced, and they tailored their approach to meet each individual's unique needs. The therapy sessions provided a safe space for us to express our emotions and share our experiences, which was crucial for the healing process.

In addition to therapy, we also participated in various educational workshops, such as relapse prevention, coping strategies, and trauma-informed care. The workshops were informative and practical, and they equipped us with the tools to manage our addiction and PTSD in the long term.  The way Warriors Heart is run as it pertains to the warrior is in the afternoon you select activities to participate in.  My favorites were Cooking with the Chef, Equine Training and the Wood/Steel Shops.

One of the highlights of my stay at Warriors Heart was the camaraderie and support from my fellow warriors. We shared our stories and experiences with each other, and we formed strong bonds that will last a lifetime. The sense of community was palpable, and it was a powerful reminder that we were not alone in our struggles.

The staff at Warriors Heart went above and beyond to ensure our comfort and well-being. The facilities were top-notch, with comfortable accommodations and healthy meals. The staff also organized various recreational activities, such as hiking, yoga, and art therapy, which provided a much-needed break from the intensity of the therapy sessions.

Overall, my experience at Warriors Heart through the Boot Campaign was transformative. I left with a newfound sense of hope and optimism, knowing that I had the skills and support to manage my addiction and PTSD. I am forever grateful to the staff, my fellow warriors, and the Boot Campaign for providing me with this life-changing opportunity. This was just the start of my journey with Boot Campaign. I am well on my way to embarking on their holistic programs after this very important first step at Warriors Heart. Warriors Heart is truly a remarkable organization that is changing lives one warrior at a time.
