Is Ice Cube Being Black Balled?

Written by Michael Thervil

Smart Sense featuring Ice Cube and Tucker Carlson

Ice Cube. His name alone conjures up the famous quote “Fuck the police”. But there’s more to Ice Cube than simply music and movies. Ice Cube is an ultra-talented creative that is thought provoking with a let’s get it done teamwork attitude. We think it’s safe to say that many people today wouldn’t expect that coming from Ice Cube the fame N.W.A. member. However, all these attributes can be seen during his talk with Tucker Carlson in the video above.

Within his Tucker Carlson interview Ice Cube touched on a variety of topics but the points that stood out the most to us where how the media tends to despise free-thinking individuals, men being labeled as or espousing “Toxic Masculinity” and American Black People and the adverse history they have when it comes to the banking industry. When touching on the issues of free-thinking people being essentially black balled out of the media spotlight, Ice Cube expressed that he identifies as one of those people.

Ice Cube

Because of his independent and pragmatic views concerning the state of Black Americans, politics and how the United States is governed; Ice Cube is well warranted in his feeling of being blackballed by today’s media machine. This was seen when he wanted to have the opportunity to speak with the Biden Administration and was ultimately brushed off. Ice Cube went on to speak about how the daytime talk show “The View” declined to have him on even though he’s been on the show previously. He expressed that the producers of the show told him that a few of the hosts of the show didn’t like where the position that he was coming from on certain things. From Ice Cube’s perspective, he thinks that wasn’t really the case and that was the producer’s way of dismissing him as a guest on the show.

THE VIEW

But the question that we ask ourselves is why speak to a bunch of women? But again, keep in mind that Ice Cube is a strategic thinker and nothing about him is random. Maybe he had a good reason for wanting to appear on the view at the time. On the issue of blackballing, Oprah Winfrey's name was also mentioned. If you don’t know anything about Oprah Winfrey – there’s more than meets the eye when it comes to her. But in the case of Ice Cube, he was blackballed from making an appearance on her show as well. Some people feel as if Oprah Winfrey has a distaste for hip-hop/rap music. But that position can be challenged as Oprah Winfrey had Ice-T on her show in 1990. No matter how you see this situation, it appears that he was blackballed from appearing on her show.

Oprah Winfrey

The good news is Ice Cube is willing to sit down and talk and or intellectually debate with anyone. But very few people have taken the opportunity to do so with Ice Cube. We speculate that there aren’t many people that can match him in a public/open forum. Ice Cube holds people intellectually accountable for their deeds and actions. And accountability is something politicians and many people within the music and entertainment industries and media are afraid to embark on. Truth be told during his interview with Tucker Carlson; Ice Cube simply “wants to do right by the people''.

Tucker Carlson

Tucker Carlson asked a great question when he asked: “do you think it's harder to be a man nowadays as compared to when you were a kid?”. Immediately Ice Cube answered: “yes.” And didn’t blink. Ice Cube brought up the issue all masculine men in the United States are facing and that is being labeled as or exhibiting traits of “Toxic Masculinity”. As Ice Cube pointed out; being a masculine man means: “saying what you feel, being yourself,” – “we [men] shouldn’t be called “toxic” for our instincts, I was born this way. What are you talking about? Why can’t we be ourselves too, we were born this way.”

When Tucker Carlson touches on transexuals; Ice Cube says, “everyone doesn’t really have to affirm you”. The overwhelming majority of people in the United States doesn’t care for transexual people – they simply tolerate because of the adverse socioeconomic impact and sanctions that will be place upon them if they don’t tolerate it. On the socio-economic issue of race, Ice Cube brought up the prime example of banking and how it purposely and disproportionately underserves and underfunds American Black People. There's no need to state the obvious when it comes to this topic because we all can look at the state of Black Americans today in relation to people of other ethnicities in America.
