Is Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính of Vietnam Stupid?

Written by Michael Thervil

Vietnam Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính meeting with American President Joe Biden

If Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính of Vietnam thinks for one second that the visit from American President Joe Biden is in their best interest, given the history of the America with Vietnam, one must ask themselves is Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính of Vietnam stupid? If you haven't heard anything about the massive social atrocity called the Vietnam war, then it's safe to say that you have been living under a rock. Remember, in the realm of geopolitics, nothing is random and every action that occurs in the geopolitical realm is based upon a country's “national interest”, and thus nothing is altruistic in nature. Every decision has its cost (literally), and every decision has the potential to result in some kind of “blowback”.

As of late, American President Joe Biden has decided to meet with Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính of Vietnam. Why? Because of and for several reasons. The first reason lies in the fact that Vietnam is a source of cheap labor for the manufacture of goods for the United States. In addition, Vietnam has direct access to the rare earth elements which the United States and every nation utilizes to ensure their technological and energy needs, independence, economic growth, and overall national security. With that being said, another reason why President Joe Biden is pushing for a strategic partnership with Vietnam is because of their ability to manufacture to include the assembly, packaging, and testing of the semiconductor chips that the United States so desperately need.

But there is more than meets the eye when it comes to America attempting to form a strategic partnership with Vietnam, and that thing is the ability to suck Vietnam into being used as a pawn in the perpetual cycle of the “cold war mentality” in which Vietnam can and will be used as a proxy medium to fight both China and Russia in the arena of semiconductor chip manufacturing and technology. We know that that is a lot to say, but if you take the time out to look at what has and what's currently going on within the geopolitical realm, it's almost too easy to see the outcome. A key question that should come to your mind is what does Vietnam gain if they decided to form a strategic partnership with the United States?

Vietnam Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính

The answer is weapons and enhanced security in the region. Keep in mind that the country of Vietnam is located right next door to China. For the United States this may seem like a good move – but to China this can be considered a threat or some kind of provocation at the very least. On the back end, if some kind of blowback occurs, it will be Vietnam that bears the brunt of the “pain” while the United States would have the ability to pack up, pull out like they did in Afghanistan, and possibly send them “aid packages” from afar. Being non-bias in approach, it is our position that Vietnam should either reject partnering with America or flat-out form a partnership with their neighbor, China on this front.

The question of the day is: “is Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính of Vietnam stupid?” The answer looks like a clear yes. We can say this because after the Vietnam war ended in 1975 which resulted in the deaths of over 1,000,000 Vietnamese people; with no reparations paid to Vietnam for the atrocity that devastated their country, but instead further resulted in a trade embargo which lasted over 20 years its fitting to ask if Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính of Vietnam is stupid. But what do we know? We might just have to sit back and wait and see with the rest of the world.
