American President Biden
As you well know, there was another mass shooting that occurred in America. This time, the mass shooting occurred at a Family Dollar store. For those that don’t know what a Family Dollar store is, it is a store typically found in lower class neighborhoods and mostly all of the products in the store cost $1; hence the name “Family Dollar”. A shooter 21-year-old Ryan Palmeter armed with an AR-15 entered the store and began shooting Black Americans who were in the midst of shopping there. Amongst the dead are Angela Carr, 52, Anolt Laguerre, Jr., 19 and Jerrald De'Shaun Gallion, 29. The motive of this shooting is predicated on hate and racism.

As always with every mass shooting that occurs in America, every American President in modern times to include President Joe Biden seems to only pay lip service to both the victims of mass shootings and hate crimes and the American people. For many people that tuned in to listen to President Biden’s speech, his words fell on deaf ears. But any other people in America, they rather not tune into it because for them, mass shootings like these are nothing more than the norm. When we spoke with a few people about how they felt about this mass shooting, a few felt as if it was their duty to arm themselves because they are concerned that at any given time, they could be the next victim of either gun violence or mass shootings. A few others felt that the American government is not doing enough of anything to curb and or stop the endemic of gun violence that plague America.

But even more than that, it could be agreed by most people in America that there’s not enough being done to curtail the issue of racism in America – especially when it comes to Black American men. To date there is little if any law on the books in America that punishes people who commit acts of racism no matter how slight against black Americans and specifically Black American men. So, with racism being essentially a part of America, the big question is: “what is President Joe Biden or any other elected official in a public office going to do about it?”. And quite frankly the answer is nothing. We can hold this position because the answers and decisive actions are executed swiftly in America with it comes to Ukraine, China, Jews, Gays, and women’s rights – but the American leadership falls silent and continuously falls apart when it comes to the rights of black people and specifically Black Men.

Until America begins to administer the harshest prison sentences to people who commit acts of racism no matter how slight – no matter their “race”; then America will always have to carry the social burden of racism on its back with a weight that will become heavier everyday until it becomes unbearable. The old saying goes: pay no attention to what people are saying – but pay every bit of attention to what people are doing. This is especially true when it comes to dealing with the social issue of race in America.
