The two things that America is running low on are “guts” and “integrity” and we at VEDA Magazine have to say it feels good to see the Director of Congressional & Public Affairs Josh Paul resigning because he has both. In the wake of the current Israeli – Hamas War that’s going on in the Palestinian city of Gaza, Josh Paul is refusing to part in yet another mindless destruction of another country. Josh Paul has been the Director of Congressional & Public Affairs for over 11 years and one of his job duties is to oversee the shipments and logistics of weapons to foreign countries and entities.

Josh Paul resigned this week under the claim that American President Joe Biden’s “blind support for one side” during the Israeli-Hamas War was and is: “shortsighted, destructive, unjust and contradictory to the very values we publicly espouse.” For many, this claim can be seen as clear as day – but for many frontrunners and hardliners on the issue of the Israeli-Hamas War within and outside of the Biden Administration, they feel like America can’t do enough to heal Israel. But the question of the day is how much is enough? According to American President Joe Biden:

“I come to Israel with a single message: You're not alone, as long as the United States stands — and we will stand forever — we will not let you ever be alone.”

“Forever”? We don’t know about you but “forever” is a long time to be to sending aid in the forms of weapons and finance to another country – especially when all adults know that nothing lasts “forever”. In the case of Josh Paul, he stated that:

“The response Israel is taking, and with it the American support both for that reason and the status quo of the occupation, will only lead to more and deeper suffering for both the Israeli and Palestinian people. I fear we are repeating the same mistakes we have made these past decades, and I decline to be a part of it for longer.”

The past decades he is referring to are both the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars which led to America losing both of these wars to the Taliban. When Josh Paul stated that “American support both for that reason and the status quo of the occupation, will only lead to more and deeper suffering for both the Israeli and Palestinian people.” He was correct in his assessment. Why? Well simply because the people within the middle do not think of fighting and death in the same terms of America and the Collective West. Thus, despite being faced with death, they will harbor the increased propensity to continue fighting and resisting the “democracy initiatives” that the Collective West has notoriously failed to establish amongst the people within the region of the Middle East. In short – no one in the Middle East for the exception of Israel is buying what America and the Collective West is selling.

Josh Paul Former Director of Congressional & Public Affairs

According to Josh Paul the American and International Laws that were created to keep weapons out of the hands of people and organizations that commit heinous crimes and violence which violate the human rights of civilians should be enforced at any cost to preserve the lives of the victims of such crimes – but currently those laws are failing. Drawing from his own experience in dealing with the logistical transport and shipment of weapons to other countries in the Middle East from America to people and organizations who have committed acts of violence towards civilians which broke both American and International Laws – he implied that he has seen transfers like this occur several times within his tenure as Director of Congressional & Public Affairs. It can be said that if he has seen it from his position as Director of Congressional & Public Affairs – other people within a position adjacent to his have more than likely seen these types of transactions as well.

According to his interview with the New York Times he stated:

“Continuing to give Israel what he described as carte blanche to kill a generation of enemies, only to create a new one, does not ultimately serve the United States’ interest. What this leads to is this desire to sort of impose security at any cost, including in the cost to the Palestinian civilian population, and that doesn’t ultimately lead to security.”

It is our position at VEDA Magazine that anyone with an ounce of good judgment and common sense could agree to the words of Josh Paul. With that being said, many people around the United States should find comfort in the fact that at least someone in the government has the guts and integrity to stop while their ahead and do their part in curtailing another pointless, losing war akin to the America’s Iraq/Afghanistan Wars that lead to nothing but the destruction of a society, the wasting of human life on both sides and the conspicuous consumption of resources and funds.
