Keke Palmer & The Rise of Simp Culture

Lauren Keyana Palmer also known as “Keke Palmer” demonstrates a clear example of what not to do when you have a significant other – who is a man. But even more than that her “boyfriend” which she is too old to have and with him being too old to be (Darius Jackson) have managed to do two things; elevate both “Whore Culture” and Simp Culture. We are saying this because on the one hand Darius Jackson was right, she is a mother, and she shouldn’t dress like that. Moreover, if she (Keke Palmer) is considering herself to be in a committed relationship, she shouldn’t disrespect the father of their child by seeking the attention of another man (Music Artist Usher), especially in the public eye. What this lack of respect does is two things: it emasculates her child’s father in this case in front of the world. And secondly, it makes him out to be a sort of psudo-cockhold.

In the case of Darius Jackson, even though he publicly made a statement on social media concerning the mother of his child’s public image and her public behavior, he failed to stick to what he knew was to be correct concerning the social expectations and what he as a supposed leader of their relationship expected from the mother of his child. it is our position that the actions of Darius Jackson have not only worked against the best interest of men in this country, but it has given the proverbial “green light” for men in this country, especially Black American men in this country to continue to look weak and bow down to the pressure of women. Thus, promoting Simp Culture.

Now if you don’t know what a Simp is, that's ok. The shortened word “Simp” comes from the word simpleton. Although the word simpleton was shortened to “Simp” in 1903, it would be the west coast rapper “Too Short” who would make it famous in 1985. Its current definition today is applied to a man who silly or foolishly allows himself to be exploited by women in exchange for the hope of engaging in sexual intercourse with them. In the case of Darius Jackson, he did allow himself to be exploited by women even if it's not his own woman for the opportunity to stay in the good graces of all women – especially women that he trains as a personal trainer.

Flipping the coin to the other side, Keke Palmer has seemed to have fully embraced Whore Culture. Whore Culture is a subculture that projects the idea that a woman should have the right to go, do, say, and wear whatever they want irrespective of the social situation and engagement in defiance of societal expectations, norms, and values. This subculture which by many has been perceived to have gone mainstream especially in the Black American Culture. However, the reason it has appeared by many to have gone mainstream is because Black American men in general have failed to correct their women when they exhibit “whorish behavior”.

By all men but Black American men in particular failing to socially correct the women of this nation we have what we have today – the issue of Keke Palmer and women like her not respecting the men in their lives and degrading themselves to such a point of no return, that the image of a Whore and a Simp become permanently embossed in the minds of the onlookers who do not subscribe to neither Whore Culture or the “simpish” behavior of weak men.

Are there standards in a relationship? Yes. Whether people want to admit it or not, there are gender roles and gender expectations in any kind of relationship, especially the romantic kind. For people not to understand and accept this truth and attempt to reject this notion of fact should only open your eyes to their immaturity, propensity of disrespect towards their intimate partner, stubbornness, and their selfish behavior. If there were no standards in relationships especially in intimate relationships, there would be chaos – but then again, we all can see the chaos that is currently happening in intimate relationships between women and men today.

So, what should’ve Darius Jackson done when Keke Palmer went to seek the attention of another man dressed in the way that she was, especially on the world stage? First off, he should have checked her before she left the house and demanded she change her clothes. In so he would have been able to avoid the situation that he’s currently in. But let’s say for the sake of argument that he didn’t know she was wearing what she was wearing, and he was taken completely off guard by her actions with Usher on the world stage. He should have flat out left her. By doing so Darius Jackson would’ve sent a message to the entire world. and that message would have been akin to we as men will not accept the disrespect of a woman – no matter who she is. Packing his bags and leaving without saying a word would have been the most effective thing he could have done.
