Make Less Than $45,000? You’re About to Lose Your Job to AI.

As you well know we are officially entering into the age of Artificial Intelligence. What this means for you is that if you make less than $45,000 per year it is more than likely that you’re about to lose your job. Why? Because many of the jobs that fall under the category of a salary of $45,000 or less do not require any real technical skill, this is especially true in the age of Artificial Intelligence. If you haven’t noticed, employers of all sizes and across all industries are looking for ways to produce more, with less. This translates into employers looking into acquiring the most profit with less employees.

Jobs such as Receptionist, Accountants, Salespeople, Security and Military Personnel, Surgical Assistants, Administrative Support, Office Workers, Pharmacists,Astronauts, Librarians, and jobs that require repetitive motion such as Assembly Line Workers and yes even Teachers are on the chopping block.

For those that earn more than $45,000 a year such as Attorneys, Bartenders and Bookkeepers are also at risk of simply being not needed for the world to successfully function. In fact, people that fall under these categories and more can now be considered "Non-Essential Workers".

This is a sad state of affairs that will leave many people in socio-economic destitute. The question that is baffling Politian’s and Law Makers across the country is: “what are we going to do as a society with people that are simply unemployable?”. Think about it, there is a finite amount of specialized and technical jobs that will be available for people period. Anything after that can be considered “overflow”. What we mean by this is that the fields that require specialization and technical knowledge will be unintentionally over saturated to the point that there could be an indefinite hiring freeze.

This is not the fault of Artificial Intelligence. This is the fault of society not respecting Adams smith's concept of the "Hidden Hand" in terms of economics. Keep in mind that the economic concept of the Hidden Hand is also present in all social relationships and their derivatives. When there is a surplus of anything by default the “Free Market” must "correct" itself. And in this case the “Free Market” is the workforce. By any sector of the workforce being over saturated it results in two things. The first result is that it will cheapen the labor of the people who hold specialized and technical jobs.

Also and simultaneously, it has the ability to exponentially create a wealth gap so large that the social fabric of a society will rip. Even as this article is written, it’s the people who have extremely less against than those who have significantly more. In the age of Artificial Intelligence – if there is no sort of universal basic level of income bestowed onto the citizens of a country than you have a case where you truly have the “haves versus the have nots”.

When this happens, the entire society will atrophy breaks down into chaos. And and when anomie sets in; the. The words of Gerald Celente of the Trends Research Institute comes to mind: “When people have nothing to lose – then they lose it”.
