For many fans of the Jamaican Women's National Soccer Team, this was not only a heartbreaking defeat; but it was considered one of the most horrendous games they had to watch. Mexico ruled the both the game and the night as fans poured into shell energy stadium to support their team. Mexico dominated in both the first and second halves. For the fans that came out to support the Jamaican women's national team, they felt as if both the head Coach Hubert Busby Jr. and Manager/Coach Deon Burton should be “fired” after last night performances on the pitch. Whether they should be fired is still up in the air. Here are the stats from last night's match.
Both Jamaica and Mexico tied when it came to taking shots with 13 apiece. This should be good until you compare the number of shots on target between both teams with Jamaica having 2 to Mexico’s 7. Mexico also had possession of the ball 53% of time compared to Jamaica 47% of the time. While not a significant difference, the number of successful passes between both of the teams were.

Mexico had a total of 353 successful passes compared to the 290 successful passes Jamaica had on the pitch. That’s a 63 successful pass difference between the two teams. Mexico also led with a 5% pass accuracy difference with a pass accuracy rate of 76% to Jamaica 71%. When it came to fouls, Mexico picked up 8 to Jamaica who led in this area with 11 fouls. The question that was being asked throughout the match was: “is Jamaica trying to hack their way into scoring a point?”.
Maybe, but if that’s the case, for many fans of Mexico, it appears that all attempts of Jamaica to do so fell in vain. Neither team picked up any yellow card, red cards or any offsides calls. However, when it came to corners Jamaica picked up 4 while Mexico picked up 5. It should be noted that the players from Mexico that scored were Midfielder Lizbeth Ovalle, Midfielder Scarlett Camberos, and Midfielder Alice Soto who scored two times last night.
