This past weekend the City of Houston hosted the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration and Children's Day of Service in front of City Hall. This celebratory get-together in the honor of Dr. Martin Luther King is a general tradition that's celebrated in most major cities around the country. But just as many people in America celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, people are starting to ask questions about the social biases that exist when it comes to celebrating Dr. Martin Luther King when compared to celebrating the legacy of Malcolm X, who was affiliated with the Nation of Islam in America and who was also recognized worldwide at the same time Dr. Luther King was alive. Tragically both Civil Rights leaders were assassinated.
As much as people around the United States celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King and all of his accomplishments while resisting racism in America, the general social bias against Malcolm X in the context of ignoring his contributions to fighting against racism in America tends to go largely ignored. This is what many people - especially Black Americans are secretly thinking about while Dr. Martin Luther King is being celebrated on this day.
Which American Civil Rights leader between the two presented here you champion is totally up to you. Maybe you champion both. During the celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King at Houston's City Hall there were service vendors of all types seeking the patronage of those in attendance; as well as live performances, and of course a very diverse amount of food trucks on location as well. If you don't know, then you should know the people of Houston love food trucks and so do we.
When it comes to celebrating Civil Rights figures in America, it's fair to say that no Civil Rights leader should be put before any other as there were so many people both public and private that fought for the Civil Rights of Black Americans in America. And so many people in America still are to this day.
