This past Saturday's match-up between the Houston Dynamo’s vs the LA Galaxy was nothing short but amazing. In an extremely brilliant performance by the Houston Dynamo, they were able to defeat the LA Galaxy 2-1. This is a very significant win for the Houston Dynamo because it marks the road to their first playoff game against Seattle in the next two weeks. Even though the LA Galaxy were defeated in this game, this new loss doesn’t in any circumstance negate the fact that they’ve displayed great skill when it comes to driving the fall exceptionally fast down the court and executing attack maneuvers on the pitch towards the goal.
Both teams tied when it came to taking both shots and shots on target, with both teams executing 15 shots with 7 shots on target. When it came to ball possession, the Houston Dynamo’s held possession of the ball 53% of the time to the LA Galaxy’s 47%. One thing that we must highlight here is that the LA Galaxy demonstrated exceptional ball handling capabilities, even “crossing” over a Dynamo player or two in doing so. While the Houston Dynamo was able to execute 519 successful passes, the LA Galaxy were able to obtain 478 successful passes on their end.
When it comes to the pass accuracy between the two teams, the Houston Dynamo had a pass accuracy rate of 88% to the LA Galaxy’s 89% pass rate. Although behind, the Houston Dynamo was only 1 percentage point shot of being even with the LA Galaxy. If you’re wondering if the game played between the two teams was aggressive, it was. We can confidently say that it was with Dynamo’s racking up 11 fouls and two yellow cards to the LA Galaxy’s 9 fouls and one yellow card issuance. No red cards were given to either team.
The Houston Dynamo received 1 offsides call while the LA Galaxy’s pretty much played a square game on the pitch. The Houston Dynamo was able to get 9 corners to the LA Galaxy’s 5. The Houston Dynamo scored the first goal in the first half, followed by the LA Galaxy scoring a goal in the top of the second half for a tie. The Dynamos were able to score again thanks to a great assist by Griffin Dorsey to Daniel Steres who was able to score the final point of the match-up in the bottom of the second half.
Again, the next Dynamo match-up will be against the Seattle Sounders FC in roughly two weeks. According to the MLS, the Seattle Sounders ranked 6 in terms of power ranking and 4 when it comes to standings within the MLS. No matter where the Seattle sounders rank amongst the MLS teams, the fans of the Houston Dynamo will turn up and turn out. To the date of this article, the location of this next match-up is undetermined.
