Post Interview with Model Whitney Dotson
Believe it or but Whitney Dotson was the very first Professional Model that I had the opportunity to shoot when I first got started as a Professional Photographer. When I tell you that Whitney has it all I mean she has it all. Her height was right, and her size and weight were just where it needed to be - petite. But it was more than her height, dress size and weight that caught my attention. It was her personality. See, Whitney possesses a kind of down to earth magnetic personality that many people in and outside the Fashion and Beauty Industry simply don't have. As a Photographer she makes you feel comfortable shooting her when she's in front of your camera - and that's a good thing.
What people don't understand is that in the age of “Me Too”, it can be hard for men to work in the Fashion and Beauty Industry. Even through men dominate the photography industry, we all at some point must always have that “what if” factor looming over our heads as we work with Models of the opposite sex. Whitney was able to take that undue pressure off me as a Photographer so I could just focus on the shoot, creating art, articulating expression, setting and maintaining standards - and nothing else.
As I mentioned in the Post-Shoot Interview with Whitney [paraphrasing], it's like there's this “switch that gets flipped on” whenever the camera focuses on her. In short, it's just a joy to work with her as I can't say enough about her. By the way, did I mention that she was BOKASHI's November 2020 Model of The Month? Well, you best believe it. You can see my first shots of her when I first started shooting some years ago. Hey, I'll leave you with this, if you ever need a Professional Model who is always on time and ready to work - don't hesitate to reach out to her. She does Fashion, Editorial, Commercial, Product, and Lifestyle Modeling. Whitney’s Instagram is @whitthegrit and can be reached at whitthemodel@gmail.com (that's your cue to click the link).
