Like it or not, there aren’t too many film remakes and film series additions that can match up to the very first film that was produced. But here at VEDA Communications, we are proud to say that Beverly Hills Cop Axel F, not only lives up to its name, but it exceeds the "watchability" of the entire installment of films. Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F stars Eddie Murphy reprising his role as “Axel Foley”. If we were to sum up the entire series of Beverly Hills Cop films, it would be as follows: Eddie Murphy plays the lead role of Axel Foley, a great instinctive Detroit cop that finds himself being pulled into working cases in Beverly Hills that fast talks his way into situations that tend to cause havoc on city streets which irritates his boss all while managing to display great police work while entertainingly busting the chops of bad guys.
We appreciated the way that the film was shot because it didn’t look like a cheap rendition of what it used to be. It was modern in production, but very much still in step with the plot, theme, and style of the first three installments. Another thing that we appreciated was how Eddie Murphy showed how much the world has changed socially from the first three installments until now. Moreover, those who could remember some of the lines and references from the first three installments could easily recognize them today. In doing so, we don’t mind revealing our age as we revel in that fact.
If you’re looking for spoiler alerts, like always, you won’t find them here. However, the estranged relationship Axel has with daughter “Jane” played by the talented Taylour Paige is something to take note of. The reason for this is because like with all successful, busy, and highly productive men, their work will always come first in their lives. But in pursuing their work they tend to unwillingly leave their family behind because of their high drive for pursuing their passion.
It’s also a great pleasure that Eddie Murphy brought back some of the main characters from the franchise such as Judge Reinhold (Detective Bill Rosewood), John Ashton (Detective John Tagert), and who could forget the very notable Bronson Pinchot (Serge) who is absolutely funny. If you’re wondering how the actors aged, we’d say they aged very well, and it was great to see that they had fun poking at how much they aged during the film. Is the motif the same? Yes – but it’s better and it’s guaranteed to be a film loved by viewers young and old.
Other great Actors and Actresses that were featured in Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F were Joseph Gorden-Levitt, Kevin Bacon, Suzanne Ford, Luis Guzman, Paul Reiser, and Sarah Abrell.
You can watch Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F which was released on July 3rd, 2024 on Netflix.
