The newly made for television series by MGM entitled “Emperor of Ocean Park” is produced by John Wells and Sherman Payne. John Wells, a very talented producer, has 6 Primetime Emmys under his belt, along with 27 other wins and at least 48 other nominations for his extensive work in the world of cinematography. Production wise for this series, he's followed by Sherman Payne, who is best known for Shameless (2011), Legacies (2018), and Charm City Kings (2020). Sherman Payne also has a win for his short film entitled “Cred” at the Los Angeles Pan African Film Festival along with 2 other nominations.
Another tab bit of good news is that this MGM made for television series stars Academy Award Winner Forest Whitaker. If you’re a fan of legal dramas like “Law & Order” and other murder mystery thrillers look no further. This series is sure to take you on an investigative ride that will leave you on the edge of your seat starting on July 14th, every Sunday until Sept 15th, 2024.
From the looks of the trailer, it appears that the series or at least part(s) of the series was filmed in Chicago IL. According to several verified sources, the official synopsis of the made for television series are as follows:
“Emperor of Ocean Park is set in the worlds of politics, elite academia, and the beaches of Martha’s Vineyard. It follows Talcott Garland (Coleman), an esteemed law professor whose quiet life is shattered when his father, Judge Oliver Garland, dies of an apparent heart attack. The nature of the judge’s death is questioned by Tal’s sister, Mariah, a former journalist and inveterate conspiracy theorist, who believes that the judge, a failed Black nominee to the Supreme Court, met with foul play.”
Giving credit where credit is due, there are two other Executive Producers of this spectacular TV series which include: Erin Jontow and Shukree Tilghman. In addition, this television series also features two exceptionally strong females in leading roles played by both Paulina Lule (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) and Tiffany Mack (SEAL Team). The Emperor of Ocean Park is also produced in association with Warner Bros. Television. You can watch the Emperor of Ocean Park Staring Forest Whitaker on July 14th, every Sunday until Sept 15th on MGM+ (formally EPIX).
