MUST WATCH: THE PENGUIN

We are excited to say that the DC Comics “The Penguin” on MAX is a great watch. with episodes coming out weekly, we guarantee that you will most definitely be entertained. MAX’s series “The Penguin”, directed by Craig Zobel (The Hunt and Westworld) will consist of 8 episodes. This series takes the viewers on an epic tour of DC’s Gotham City’s underworld of organized crime specifically surrounding the lives and actions of the Batman villain, “Oswald Cobblepot” (Oz Cobb), also known in the DC Universe as “The Penguin”.

 

OZ Cobb, lead character and antagonist, is a criminally impulsive and master manipulator within the series. Starring colin Farrell (Miami Vice 2004 and Elvis) as Oz Cobb (The Penguin), Cristin Milioti (The Wolf of Wall Street and Black Mirror TV Series) as Sofia, and Rhenzy Feliz (The Tender Bas 2021 and Runaways 2017); as leading stars of the series; these three exceptionally talented performers fully encapsulate the dynamic Criminal Goth Element in Gotham City. 

 

Other gifted actors and actresses include Michael Kelly, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Deirdre O’Connell, Clancy Brown, James Madio, Scott Cohen, Michael Zegen, Carmen Ejogo, and Theo Rossi. Although we won’t be giving away any spoilers here, we will say that The Penguin series does a fine job of Keeping in touch with the tone and feel of The Batman (2022) films. The Penguin series highlights not only the fictional City of Gotham and the crime and drama that spawns from it; but it also does a really great job of incorporating and highlighting the ethnic diversity within the DC City of Gotham. The Penguin series also does a great job of providing insights into the personal and criminal lives of each character in the series.

 

For the cinema buffs out there, we think that you will love the color grading and the strategic use of light and shadows for The Penguin series. From the series’ use of deep blacks, to the use of shadows and camera angles; The Penguin series embodies everything one would expect from a true Batman spin-off. We highly suggest that you take the time out to view The Penguin, a crime drama spin-off series on MAX, with new episodes coming out every Sunday at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT.
