P.A.I.D. (Political Advocates for Independent Democracy)

On Saturday May 20th, 2023, there was a political forum hosted by PAID Texas candidate for City Council Lloyd Ford of District D at the Shrine of The Black Madonna located at 5309 Martin Luther King Blvd, Houston, TX 77021. As a point of reference, P.A.I.D. stands for Political Advocates for Independent Democracy and according to the mission statement on their website (https://paidtexas.org) they’re a:

“grassroots political group focused on issues in underserved communities. Our organization is committed to evaluating and supporting trusted political candidates that will bring sustainable change to our communities. We fight for real change by identifying the root cause of our biggest issues, organizing our people, and positioning individuals with the will to fight for sustainable change rather than popularity.”

This forum was an open forum that was created so that Houston residents could hear the thoughts and plans of action of what each political candidate had in mind if they were able to be democratically elected to office; as well as allowing the residents of Houston to have the opportunity to speak and ask direct questions to each of the candidates.

The political candidates on the panel consisted of Lloyd Ford, John Branch Jr., Pastor Willie Davis and special guest Crystal Dillard host of the “Crystal Loves Texas” Podcast. Together they addressed the topics of community economics, crime within Houston, education as well as how they plan to implement their plans of action to aid in rectifying these social issues and various other challenges within the city of Houston.

For the attendees of the forum, it proved to be most informative and a breath of fresh air as they were able to bear witness to new perspectives and ideas that could serve them well as citizens of the City of Houston. It should be noted that the political candidates that were featured at the forum were exceptionally seasoned in terms of politics on the local, state, and national political levels. Be sure to carefully hear what each candidate and the special guest had to say during the forum concerning local government and social issues.
