Senator John Whitmire
Many people will miss Sylvester Turner who is the current Mayor of Houston Texas as his administration is starting to an end. When it comes to who is going to be the next Mayor of Houston Texas, there are only two frontrunners that should come to mind and that would be Texas State Senator John Whitmire and Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee. The other 15 runners jockeying for the opportunity to become Houston’s next Mayor really doesn’t matter. We are able to say that because when you ask the average Houstonian who else is running for Mayor outside of John Whitmire and Sheila Jackson Lee, they couldn’t even tell you.
It is our position that the next Mayor of Houston will be Texas State Senator John Whitmire. The reason why we are able to say this is because of one single factor:
HE HAS A LARGER POOL OF FINANCIAL BACKERS WITH EXCEPTIONALLY DEEP POCKETS THAT ARE ENDORSING HIM.
That is the only number one reason and the only reason needed to understand that Senator John Whitmire will win the election for Houston City Mayor over Sheila Jackson Lee. Grown-ups understand that this is America and money gets things done. Not hope, not inspiration, and certainly not ideals. This is not to take away from Sheila Jackson Lee as she really has been and currently is a great force to be reckoned with in the House of Representatives. She is a wholesome woman, very successful during her tenure in the House of Representatives and a very powerful speaker that has the ability to touch the hearts and minds of Houstonians. But again, this is America; and America is about business relationships and deals.
According to “Houstonia” a Houston online based magazine the endorsements of Sheila Jackson lee stem from “educators, labor unions, and support from women and people of color”. The notion of “for the people by the people” sounds good. But when it comes to the macro political perspective (the big picture), people don’t get things done – businesses do. Going back to using Houstonia as a reference; the endorsements of John Whitmire are as follows: law enforcement organizations such as the Houston Police Department, construction and real estate, labor groups such as The International Longshoremen’s Association and several others, and key politicians”.
Keep in mind that this is not an attempt to belittle or alienate anyone, but facts are the facts and if you have lived in America for more than 30 years, then you should know that industry, organizations, and money makes the world turn.
