Sikh Hardeep Singh Nijjar killed in Canada

It’s a rare occurrence to hear anything negative about Canada in the news, but this doesn’t mean that Canada doesn’t have its fair share of domestic problems. Just like any nation since the beginning of time there has always been murders, rapists, and thieves. However, in recent times Canada has been dealing with Terrorism. For many people outside of Canada, when they hear the word “Terrorism”, they think ISIS, Taliban, Boko Haram and Osama Bin Laden amongst others. But people never think of hard lining Sikh Separatist that hold extreme views to the detriment of people outside their collective.

Before we talk about what’s going on in Canada, let's get an understanding of what a Sikh is, what are the viewpoints of Khalistani Extreemist and what possibly fueling it. The term “Sikh” translates into the word disciple”. Sikhism is an ethically based religion that was founded within the Punjab region of India. Sikhs subscribe to the teachings of Guru Nanak which emphasizes spiritual development and conducting oneself based upon having a good moral compass.  The difference between someone being a Sikh and a Khalistani Extreemist is that the Khistani's are part of a movement that aims to build a homeland for themselves called "Khalistan" within the Punjab region of India, thus splitting the country of India in two.

Proposed flag of Khalistan

Fast forward to what’s going on in Canada today, it has been said that Canada has a significant number of “Khalistan Sympathizers” that believe that they should not only be recognized as a separate ethnic entity in India but the international community as well. Hence, with Canada having a significant number of Sikh Separatists that feel this way, it fueled the fire of social and ethnic tensions in Canada which resulted in a flash point that led to a Sikh Separatist killing Hindus in retaliation from the perceived notion of being “exiled” from their land.

Over the decades protest and violent clashes broke out not only in Canada but around the world. But in the case of Canada, it started in 1995 when editor Tarsem Singh Purewal was killed while leaving his office. His death was followed by Canadian based Sikh Journalist by the name of Tara Singh Hayer was shot and killed by Khalistan Extremist in 1998. After his death, there were violent clashes going on in Canada between the Khalistan Extremist and Sikhs as the Sikh began to gain more and more political power in Canada. As time passed more Sikh Journalists began to write more on Khalistan Extremism to the point, they began criticizing the Pakistani Government for collaborating with the Khalistani Extremist to some degree or another.

Proposed redrawn map of Khalistan inside of India. Not recognized by the international community.

Unbeknown to people all over the world, over time Canada had a powder keg within its borders that was setting to explode between the Khalistani Extremist and the Sikhs. This led to what the world is currently seeing and that’s the death and aftermath of Canadian Sikh Hardeep Singh Nijjar who illegally migrated from Punjab on a fake passport but was considered a Khalistani leader in Canada. It would be as if recent that he was supposedly killed by authorities from India.

According to the Indian Government, Hardeep Singh Nijjar was a Terrorist in India. According to Indian authorities he was the culprit of several bombings in India. The aftermath of the death of Hardeep Singh Nijjar resulted in Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau saying “there are credible allegations linking the Indian government to the killing” while delivering a speech in the House of Commons. Maybe he misspoke, maybe he didn’t; but none-the-less his remarks factual or not led to India accusing Canada of harboring many Khalistani Extremists. This in turn led to the Prime Ministers of India and Canada expelling each other’s diplomats out of their countries, India stopped the processing of Canadian visas, and leaving any trade deals and other cooperations between the two countries in shambles.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is stuck between a rock and a hard place. On one hand he wants to work with India as the country of India is good for business, especially in the agricultural sector. However, on the other side of the coin, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau can’t be seen as being weak in the aspect of failing to protect Canadian citizens on the internal stage. The irony lies in the fact that if Hardeep Singh Nijjar arrived to Canada on a fake passport, then can he really be considered a Canadian citizen? This point is especially true when Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has an election cycle coming up. Even though India has denied having any involvement in the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, it’s still speculated by many people that India at least had a hand one way or another in this situation.

Things get interesting in the fact that Canada received communications regarding the possible killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar from at least one of the countries known within the intelligence community as the “Five Eyes” who are not willing to be named. The secretive intelligence community known as the Five Eyes are a combination of America, United Kingdom, Canada, Austria, and New Zealand. Not to lead you on or prime you to believe one thing or another, but this is the Collective West we’re talking about. In terms of world speculation many people have their bets on it being a combination of America and the United Kingdom which presented the intelligence communication to Canada. On the other side of that coin, it was also reported that India sent intelligence information over to Canada informing them that they not only was Hardeep Singh Nijjar was considered a Twrrorist by India but they had a significant number of Khalistani Extremist within their borders that had the propensity to conduct violence.

Within this situation, it was also reported that Hardeep Singh Nijjar was warned by CSIS (Canadian Security Intelligence Service) that his life was in danger; why they didn’t take him into protective custody is unknown at this time. The question of the day is: “Who has the most to gain from this situation?” Remember nothing is random in the world of geopolitics.
