Do you remember all the Jenny Craig commercials of the 80’s and 90’s that actually made you feel like you could keep the weight off if you would only exercise and consume their products especially their protein shakes? We sure do. Let’s face it Jenny Craig was a staple of the 90’s and maybe their products actually did yield the results for some people as advertised. The famous telephone number is coming to mind right now: “1-800-94-Jenny” and their famous “Nutri/System” also comes to mind as well.
Well as of yesterday Jenny Craig has laid off over 1,000 employees. The reason for the closing of its physical locations was because of its inability to acquire funding. So, to compensate for that, it was reported that Jenny Craig may be moving to an 100% e-commerce model in order to stay economically afloat. When Jenny Craig opened its doors in 1983 – it was a game changer in terms of weight loss for so many people.
There is no telling how many lives Jenny Craig may have saved over its course of being in business. The company will be deeply missed because of the positive impact it has on its customers lives.
