The Never War On Sugar - Diabetes

People that suffer from diabetes often have foot issues.

The disease of diabetes has affected more than 415 million people on the planet and the number is expected to keep rising. Why? Because of the never war on sugar and the overabundance of ultra processed food that contain significantly more sugar than the RDI (Recommended Daily Intake) by Doctors especially in the United States of America. The RDI of sugar consumption by the American Heart Association is roughly 9 teaspoons (36 grams) or no more than 150 calories.

However, the WHO (World Health Organization) recommends something different. The WHO is recommending 30 grams of sugar per day with children between the ages of 7-10 having no more than 24 grams of sugar and children between the ages of 4-6 having no more than 19 grams of sugar. This is something to question as to why the American Heart Association prescribes something different than the WHO.

Be sure to check your glucose levels periodically and be sure to get your A1c checked as well.

With that being said, American children between the ages of 2 – 19 eat a whopping 16 tablespoons of sugar per day. That equals 99 grams of sugar per day which amounts to 53 pounds of added sugar a year. This is not only something to be concerned about, but the numbers are alarming. According to the American Heart Association (AHA) “beverages are the leading category source of added sugars” which accounts for more than 47% of all added sugars. As noted by the AHA:

“Soft drinks – 25%”

“Fruit drinks – 11%”

“Sport/energy drinks – 3%”

“Coffee/tea – 7%”

Be sure to watch your diet.

Another interesting thing about the consumption of sugar that you should know is that the RDI is different for men and women; with the RDI for men having no more than 9 and women having no more than 6 grams. If you take the time to look at the back of any drink of any kind on the shelves of your nearest store you will see that a single drink could have more than 20 and in some cases 30 grams of sugar in a single serving.

All of this hyper excess sugar consumption not only leads to people being fat and obese around the world and especially in the United States of America; but with people being fat and obese it becomes the leading cause of diabetes the world over. Now the manufacturers of these sugary drinks and processed foods will make the argument that people do not have to eat their foods – and they’re right to a certain extent. But the other side of the coin is that it is a known scientific fact that sugar in and of itself is highly addictive.

Some symptoms of diabetes.

When it [sugar] is added to foods in any amount, and when especially added to foods that already have significant amounts of inherent sugar in them; sugar acts not only as an addictive property that has the ability to alter the brain and a person’s mood but it also serves as a catalysis that has the ability to cause permanent disease in people that consume it over time.
