In a meeting today with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, President Trump made the following statement:

“I don’t think people should be going back to Gaza. I think that Gaza has been very unlucky for them. They’ve lived like hell, they’ve lived like you’re living in hell. Gaza is not a place for people to be living. The only reason they want to go back, and I believe this strongly, is they have no alternative. What’s the alternative? Go where? If they had an alternative, they’d much rather not go back to Gaza and live in a beautiful alternative that’s safe,” he said.”

Is it possible that President Trump is out of touch with the day-to-day reality that Palestinians are living in Gaza and the West Bank? Where are the 2 million people from Gaza and the West Bank going to go? An even more important question that should be asked before the previous one is: does anyone have the right to evict the people of Gaza and the West Bank out of their own land? The answer to all of these questions is a clear no - but these are question that President Trump has seemingly failed to consider.

President Trump also stated:

“You look over the decades, it’s all death in Gaza,” Trump said. “This has been happening for years. It’s all death. If we can get a beautiful area to resettle people, permanently, in nice homes where they can be happy and not be shot and not be killed and not be knifed to death like what’s happening in Gaza.”

It was reported that President Trump proposed that the people of Gaza should relocate to neighboring Arab countries like Egypt, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia. It can be said that if President Trump acts on his logic, then that would spell chaos and instability in not only Gaza, but in Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and the other Arab countries he has considered pushing them into. Keep in mind that even though these countries are “Arab countries”, the Trump Administration would have failed to recognize that each of these Arab countries have different cultural norms, values, traditions, ethnicities and identities, expectations, laws, food, and religious beliefs.

To people like President Trump and the people within his administration, they don't see people in the Arab world as culturally different - they see them as “one big Arab”. In doing so, this is where both the Trump Administration and Israel will fail - yet again. Leaders in the Arab world, particularly in the countries of Egypt, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia. Have already strongly opposed the plans of the Trump Administration and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to relocate the people of Gaza to their countries. American investment firms like BlackRock and State Street already have their eyes set on Gaza because of their vision of constructing waterfront properties.

It should be noted that the Palestinian Authority and the Arab League have also rejected President Trumps idea to relocate the people of Gaza and the West Bank. Moreover, the leadership of Hamas has also expressed opposition to the plans of both President Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Will Hamas stand by and allow America and Israel to expel the people of Gaza and the West Bank from their land? We at VEDA Communications simply don't think so. If anything, the people of Gaza and the West Bank will rally behind and show even more support for groups like Hamas against Israel and America.
