The politics of the world is changing and it’s changing fast. It has been reported that Turkey, which is a NATO ally, is now seeking to step away from its continuous seeking of European Union membership to join BRICS+. This bold move by Turkey that if acted upon, comes with geopolitical ramifications against all other European Union member countries and potentially NATO. Many political pundits around the world are speculating as to why Turkey is just now expressing their interest to join BRICS as an alternative to the European Union membership. To date, Turkey’s membership into the EU has been perpetually blocked by some European Union members due to what they perceive as Turkey's engagement in human rights violations.

Outside of how EU member countries perceive Turkey, Turkey itself is also looking for a means to shield themselves from both the weaponization of the U.S. Dollar, in conjunction with seeking ways to form strategic partnerships with countries that it deems to be more “stable” than that of the European Union. In addition to that, Turkey, seeing the havoc that America has caused various countries over the decades with its ability to apply sanctions which always adversely affects not only the targeted country's finances but ultimately the entire global market by it's over/misuse of sanctions, has done nothing but force countries like Turkey to seek ways to insulate themselves from being bullied by the Collective West on the economic front.

Additionally, Turkey is expressing interest in joining the BRICS+ bloc because it too, like many other nations around the world, are seeing where things are headed as they look at their future projections. Adding fuel to Turkey’s interest in joining BRICS+  is because of the situation that has been brewing in the South China Sea for quite some time now. With America appearing to be being two-faced geopolitically when it comes to acknowledging China’s “One-China'' policy, America's folly has given Turkey even more of a reason to express a general interest into joining the BRICS+. During Turkey's Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan’s most recent three-day visit to China, it was reported  by the South China Morning Post that Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated the following:

“[Minister Hakan] Fidan told Chinese Vice-President Han Zheng Han that Turkey adhered to the One-China principle and “will not allow activities in Turkey that undermine China’s territorial integrity”.

This statement by Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan says a lot about why Turkey is taking the position it is when it comes to its pivot to China. It appears that Turkey just doesn’t want to be a part of any kind of new war effort regardless of the type created by America and the Collective West or to be the unfortunate recipient of any U.S. sanction that will disrupt their economy and their ability to conduct business transactions in any part of the world.
