Ukraine Is Done

Written by Michael Thervil

When Ukraine had the opportunity to sit down with Russia to negotiate ending the war between the two countries, they should have taken it. Instead, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky listened to the United States. It’s speculated that the United States provided a promise of unwavering support for Ukraine – until that promise was trumped by America providing its unwavering support for Israel. Currently the country of Ukraine is in shambles and President Zelensky is still running around the world with a begging bowl.

What’s sad about the Russian-Ukraine War is that it could have been avoided. But the question that’s on everyone’s mind is: what was promised by the Collective West to President Zelensky that would give him the confidence or the idea to attempt to join NATO in the first place? Another question that comes to mind is why would President Zelensky attempt to defying the Minsk agreement knowing that Russia has not only a superior fighting force, but they have a significantly larger fighting force with more advanced capabilities? Why is President Zelensky willing to participate in the self-induced destruction of his country and displacing the people of his country?

It’s not making sense. but what is making sense is that because of his lack of good judgment and socially reckless actions, he and his country is finished and currently the notion of showing support for Ukraine is starting to be forgotten as its overshadowed by the Israel-Hamas War. In the world of geopolitics, no one and no country commits to an act unless it is in their best interest to do so; the term “national interest” should come to mind. As of today, let the Russian-Ukraine War serve as a case study of what not to do in Political Science 101.
