Last Saturday’s game was a very aggressive game and almost led to both teams exchanging blows on the pitch. The crowd in attendance displayed both signs of frustration and unrest as they perceived that the referees either called the wrong call or failed to make a call at all. Throughout the match, there was pushing and pulling between both teams, but it was a match that was very entertaining and had everyone in attendance on the edge of their seats, with the match ending with the score of Houston Dash’s 1 to Utah Royals FC 3.

Looking at the stats the Houston Dash took a total of 16 shots on the pitch but was overshadowed by the Utah Royal taking a whopping 21 shots. When it came to the total number of shots on target the Houston Dash had a total of 5 to the Utah Royals’ 9. The Houston Dash led when it came to ball possession to the tune of 54% to the Utah Royals 46%. Looking at the total number of passes between both teams, the Houston Dash has 371 to the Utah Royals 336. As the match progressed, so did the aggression on the pitch. The players of both teams showed their frustration with the other which led to a shouting match at times with the referee. The Houston Dash acquired 15 fouls to the Utah Royals 14. With the 15 fouls the Houston Dash acquired it led to them racking up a total of 5 yellow cards. The Utah Royals acquired 2 yellow cards for their high level of aggression on the pitch as well.

Despite the aggression on the pitch and the referees administering yellow cards to both teams, neither team received any red cards. Both teams tied up when it came to being called for being offsides; and when it came to corners the Houston Dash had a total of 9 corners to the Utah Royals 5. It’s always a great game wherever the Houston Dash graces the pitch. The next match up will be the Houston Dash vs. NJ/NY Gotham FC at the Red Bull Arena located in New Jersey on Sunday September 8, 2024, at 12pm.
